DEAFHEAVEN released a new EP, At Work In The Fields Of The Bomb, without any advance notice on October 9. The three-song record is out now on all streaming platforms, with vinyl variants sold through the band's own store.
The EP was recorded with producer Arthur Rizk and opens with "Hunter", which comes with a short film. Vocalist George Clarke co-created it with director Nico Poalillo of Pulse Films, and the cinematography is by Oscar winner Janusz Kamiński.
The title and concept come from Robert Del Tredici's photo book of the same name, which documents the ordinary places and people behind the production of nuclear weapons. According to the band, the songs dwell on the gap between the unthinkable consequences of the bomb and the mundane, everyday decisions that make it possible — how catastrophe grows out of ordinary details, and how, once extinction is on the table, there is no one left to bear witness.
At Work In The Fields Of The Bomb is the follow-up to Lonely People With Power, the band's 2025 album and Roadrunner Records debut, which landed on a long list of year-end best-of lists on the strength of "Magnolia", "Heathen" and "Winona".
The lineup is George Clarke (vocals), Kerry McCoy and Shiv Mehra (guitars), Christopher Johnson (bass) and Daniel Tracy (drums).
Tracklist:
- Hunter
- Three Princes
- Sorry Laid The Hearth
The release lands mid-tour: DEAFHEAVEN are on the road in the US as support on MASTODON's "The Poisonous Weapons" tour, alongside ALCEST.
