FLAGG Set November Release for 'Death Sermon', Share "Serpents in the Wine"

Finnish black metal duo FLAGG will release their new album, Death Sermon, on November 28 via Purity Through Fire, on CD and vinyl LP. The first taste, "Serpents in the Wine", is streaming now on the label's YouTube channel.

FLAGG is the work of two scene veterans: multi-instrumentalist Flagg, who also plays in the revived Finnish cult act Annihilatus, and vocalist Tyrant, known from MALUM, Infernarium and Kalmankantaja. Their first two full-lengths, Nothing But Death (2020) and Cosmic Chaos Manifest (2021), came out on Purity Through Fire, and 2025's Diabolical Bloodlust moved the band toward a fast, blast-heavy take on mid-to-late-'90s melodic black metal that got them noticed well beyond Finland.

According to the label, Death Sermon stays on that course, with stacked riffs, icy melodies and full-on intensity, but pushes every element a little further. For the first time the duo bring in session players: former MALUM and Infernarium guitarist Valthor and Polish drummer Krzysztof Klingbein. The label says their input makes the melodies grander and the rhythms more fluid, and the songs stretch out further than on the previous record, with subtle synths sitting under the production. The label pitches it at fans of late-'90s classics such as On Twilight Enthroned, Towards the Skullthrone of Satan and Lords of the Nightrealm.

The cover artwork is by Art For the Dead.
