FRACTURUS have released The Synthetic Path, their second full-length album. The Canadian extreme metal band's new record is out now on Bandcamp, where it can also be streamed for free, and on all major streaming platforms.
Across eight tracks of technical death metal, the album follows humanity as it builds its own machine gods and meets the demons that come with them. It sketches a dystopia in which artificial intelligence becomes an all-seeing authority, morality is reduced to data, and people slowly lose control over their creation and, with it, their free will.
The band describe the record as a natural step on from their earlier releases: more intricate guitar leads and solos, rapid-fire drumming, a wider vocal range and a heavier bass presence, with the speed and precision anchored by groove.
We followed the album's rollout from the start: "Grace To Man" introduced the band's rebuilt lineup in August, "The Created Divine" revealed the title and artwork in September, and "Panoptic Lividity", the video above, closed the run of singles earlier this month. CDs and merch are available directly from the band's own store, with orders shipped by the band themselves.
FRACTURUS take the new songs on the road for four Canadian shows at the end of the month:
- October 28 — London, ON — Supply & Demand
- October 29 — Toronto, ON — Sneaky Dee's
- October 30 — Montréal, QC — Piranha Bar
- October 31 — Québec City, QC — Sonum
