METALLICA have released professionally filmed footage of "Fade To Black" from the third show of their "Life Burns Faster" residency at Sphere in Las Vegas, recorded on October 8.
The 1984 power ballad from Ride The Lightning comes from the same night as "Lux Æterna", which the band posted last week. It joins a growing run of Sphere clips that includes "Welcome Home (Sanitarium)" and "Devil's Dance" from the second show, and "...And Justice For All" from the opener.
The residency is built as 12 "No Repeat Weekend" pairs, 24 shows in total, where the Thursday and Saturday nights share no songs — the same format the band uses on the "M72" world tour. After October, METALLICA return to Sphere on November 5 and 7, January 28 and 30, February 4, 6, 18, 20, 25 and 27, and March 4, 6, 11 and 13, 2027.
The 17,600-capacity venue just off the Las Vegas Strip wraps the audience in a 16K LED screen and runs its own immersive sound system. Lars Ulrich has said the band decided they had to play there within seconds of seeing U2 open the building in 2023.
