PARKWAY DRIVE's feature documentary Parkway Drive: Home is going global. After opening in select Australian cinemas on November 12, the film hits North American theaters on November 18 through Evan Saxon Productions (ESP). Premieres are set for Los Angeles on November 15 at the Regal Sherman Oaks and for New York on November 17 at Regal Union Square; tickets for both are on sale now.
Directed by Allan Hardy ("Viva The Underdogs") and Macario De Souza ("Bra Boys"), the film traces the Byron Bay metalcore band's two-decade climb from underdogs to arena headliners and builds to their biggest gamble yet: a one-night-only, black-tie show at a sold-out Sydney Opera House with a full symphony orchestra and just 2,000 seated guests. The band funded the show independently, at a cost the producers compare to a full European arena tour, and the cameras follow the self-taught musicians as they work alongside seasoned orchestral players.
The film also captures a stunt that frontman Winston McCall pulled off for the occasion, rappelling 65 meters from a helicopter onto the Opera House sails and landing on a platform just 60 centimeters wide.
The concert's audio arrives on December 4 via Epitaph as the live album Home - Live At The Sydney Opera House, which we covered when it was announced with an orchestral version of "Prey".
Parkway Drive: Home is produced by Hype Republic and distributed by Mushroom Studios.
