Tony Iommi has released "Stormwatcher", the second single from From The Dark, his first solo album since 2005's Fused. The record is out October 23 via BMG, and the new song comes with an animated video built around a ship caught in a storm.
The track rides a trademark Iommi riff, with Jørn Lande's lyrics turning the storm into a metaphor for a life lived from birth to death and beyond. Lande, who shares writing credit on every song on the album, describes it as a song that "channels something from within, something real", adding: "We are the captain of our own vessel, a ship crashing through unknown and sometimes challenging waters, always navigating forward."
Bassist Becky Baldwin (MERCYFUL FATE) and drummer Karl Brazil complete the lineup. Iommi co-produced the album with his longtime engineer and co-writer Mike Exeter. "Stormwatcher" follows "World Alone", which was also issued on September 4 as a limited seven-inch backed with an instrumental version.
From The Dark lands a little over a year after BLACK SABBATH said goodbye at the "Back To The Beginning" concert in Birmingham in July 2025. It will be released in several vinyl and CD formats, including a double LP cut at 45rpm in four color variants, and a 32-page CD media book with two bonus tracks.
