VOIVOD have canceled their October 2026 U.S. tour. The ten-city run with Richmond, Virginia metal-punk trio BAT was set to open on October 8 in Youngstown, Ohio, and wrap up on October 18 in Newport, Kentucky.
The band broke the news on social media on Saturday, October 3, pointing to a "family health emergency in the VOIVOD clan." They added that they would rather call the shows postponed, but can't commit to new dates for now.
Tickets will be refunded at the point of purchase. The band asked fans to give the ticketing systems a few days to process the cancellation before requesting refunds.
The announcement caps a hard year for the Québec band. Frontman Denis "Snake" Bélanger sat out the summer and fall dates to stay at home with his partner Christine, who is being treated for cancer. Eric Forrest, who sang on 1995's Negatron and 1997's Phobos, stepped back in on vocals and bass and fronted the band across Europe while fighting prostate cancer himself. In August, the band revealed that Carol Langevin, the brother of drummer Michel "Away" Langevin, had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, and a GoFundMe campaign was set up to support him through treatment.
The canceled run would have taken VOIVOD and BAT through Liverpool, NY, Brooklyn, Philadelphia, Richmond, Orlando, Atlanta, Raleigh and Asheville. We announced the tour in July.
Formed in Jonquière in 1982, VOIVOD remain one of the most adventurous bands metal has produced, moving from raw speed metal into the sci-fi progressive thrash of Nothingface and beyond. We wish the whole VOIVOD family strength.
