SLÜRK Release New Single "I'll Wait for You on the Ground"

Finnish alternative sludge metal band SLÜRK released their new single "I'll Wait for You on the Ground" on November 2 through Inverse Records. It is the band's second release of 2026, following "Wristcutter" in September.

The band describe the song as a portrait of a toxic, self-destructive relationship between two people, so full of hatred and pain that a life together seems impossible. In their telling, death becomes the only outlet for those pent-up emotions: whoever dies first waits in the afterlife for the other, because that grim fate belongs to both of them. "The song depicts how hatred and pain can blend together in a fateful way," SLÜRK explain, adding that in this doomed relationship, death is ultimately seen as "the only bringer of peace and connection."

The track was composed by guitarists Remus Pöppönen and Lauri Sia, arranged by the band and mixed and mastered at Pure Noise Studios in Vaasa. Cover art is by Tiitu Sergejeff.

SLÜRK hail from Kaustinen and formed in 2024, when a group of friends met at the Kaustinen College of Music. They describe their sound as a mix of GOJIRA's technicality, CROWBAR's crushing weight, PANTERA's rawness and the mellower side of DEFTONES, topped with deeply personal lyrics. The band are currently working on an EP titled A Line to Cross, planned for 2027.
