DOKKEN released their fourth album "Back for the Attack" on November 2, 1987, through Elektra Records. Produced and engineered by Neil Kernon, with Steve Thompson and Michael Barbiero mixing at Bearsville Studios and Bob Ludwig mastering, it captured Don Dokken, George Lynch, Jeff Pilson and Mick Brown at their commercial peak. The record was led by "Dream Warriors", the theme from "A Nightmare on Elm Street 3", alongside "Burning Like a Flame", "Prisoner" and Lynch's instrumental showcase "Mr. Scary". It became the band's best-selling album, reaching No. 13 on the Billboard 200, spending 33 weeks on the chart and going platinum by January 1988. With roughly 1.5 million copies sold worldwide, it stands as the high-water mark of LA's guitar-hero era.
