LAMB OF GOD released their ninth album, "Omens," on October 7th, 2022 through Epic and Nuclear Blast, produced by Josh Wilbur, who has worked with the band since 2006. It runs forty-one minutes. The previous self-titled album had appeared in 2020 just as the pandemic began, leaving the Virginia band unable to tour and stuck with an unfamiliar amount of downtime; "Omens" was written and developed far more quickly than usual as a result. The lyrics respond to the upheavals in the United States since 2020, including the argument over the history of the band's home city of Richmond on "Nevermore," and environmental concerns drawn from Randy Blythe's advocacy work with Indigenous communities. It sold nineteen thousand copies in its first week and scored 80 on Metacritic; Metal Injection gave it nine out of ten.
