AUTUMNBLAZE

Lighthouses (2002)

This EP captures a small recording session from 2002 and was released following the full-length album Mute Boy, Sad Girl. Markus's prolificacy has always amazed me, but even very talented people apparently have limits to their creative capacity. And it always seemed to me that AUTUMNBLAZE slightly exceeds his reach. That's probably why this band's output has always been somewhat in the shadow of Markus's other projects and never caused a sensation in the music community.

All four tracks, totaling 19 minutes, are executed in typical AUTUMNBLAZE style -- light, melancholic rock novellas. They fit well into a single musical tapestry and complement each other. Unfortunately, neither technically nor compositionally do they present anything outstanding, but that's not where their value lies -- it's simply pleasant music without frills and even with a certain touch of minimalism.

Verdict: for AUTUMNBLAZE fans only.
