What can be said about the new BIF NAKED album? First and foremost, the booklet features no fewer than 6 photographs of this Canadian singer, one of which is a full booklet spread. Yet another photo graces the back of the disc. The album has a wonderful title, "Superbeautifulmonster" — who exactly BIF NAKED is talking about is unclear, but if it's about herself, she's overestimating things; she doesn't quite live up to either super beautiful or super monster. From a musical standpoint, there's simply nothing left of the original punk material the vocalist once presented. This is alternative pop, and the closest analogy that springs to mind is PINK — though BIF NAKED falls short in terms of character, expressiveness, and several other qualities, while gaining an edge in sensitivity and emotionality. Overall, the material is more geared toward fans of the pop scene, since it's just too easy on the ears, there's no pressure on the listener, and the music works perfectly well as background. As for recording quality and the musicians' professionalism, there's not a single complaint. The disc also includes music videos. So you can confidently pick up this release — unless you happen to be a METALLICA fan, because the cover of "Nothing Else Matters" turned out utterly colorless.
