Most fans of brutal music need no introduction to NILE or what they're all about.
As on previous albums, the Americans employ Egyptian themes in their lyrics, while the music, beyond the brutal carnage, is thoroughly saturated with Eastern mysticism. Here, as usual, we find not only tons of the heaviest riffs, inhuman instrumental technique, and the compositional talent of every member, but also the magnificent atmosphere of each composition (despite considerable brutality). In saying "as usual," I by no means wish to imply that Annihilation Of THE WICKED turned out standard and indistinguishable from its predecessors. NO. It has elevated NILE one more step on the endless staircase of perfection. Although some may argue that the sound has become more melodic and commercial.
Figuratively speaking, the merciless armored train of Annihilation Of THE WICKED drags your mangled and maimed body for 50 minutes straight. And the best part is that you enjoy it, and your hand involuntarily reaches to press PLAY again.
A top-tier album.
