MISCREANCE

MISCREANCE took their current shape in 2018, when the Venetian outfit that had spent the previous five years as ATOMIC MASSACRE changed name and direction. The lineup has never been a single-city band: guitarists Andrea Granauro and Tommaso Cappelletti and drummer Andrea Feltrin have carried it since the start, spread between Venice, Turin and Florence, with Feltrin taking over lead vocals in 2021 and Jean-Claude Rossignol replacing Emiliano Zinà on bass in 2022.

After the From Awareness to Creation demo (2018) and a 2021 split with Australia's VILE APPARITION, the band's debut full-length Convergence arrived on 16 September 2022 through Season of Mist. Eight tracks, barely half an hour, and almost no interest in the brute-force end of death metal: the record's argument was precision rather than speed, and the press reached instinctively for DEATH, SADUS and VOIVOD — the technical, restless lineage rather than the crushing one. A European run with SUPPRESSION followed in 2023 under the banner "Monochromatic Consciousness".

Second album Reminiscence, released 28 August 2026 on Season of Mist, is where the band stopped being a very good revival act. It is built as a concept record — a "lost album" transmitted by a civilisation at once futuristic and utterly primitive, one that has achieved total neural unity and still hungers for scalps and prey. Feltrin growls stretches of it in a language that does not exist; didgeridoo and bongos turn up where blast beats would be; the ATHEIST and CORONER comparisons join the earlier ones. "We still play old-school tech-thrash," Granauro insisted while it was being written, and the riffs bear him out — but Reminiscence points forward rather than back, and the singles "Scalp Ceremony", "Oracle's Rift" and "The Moaning Hill" each took a different route into it.
