Ex-SLIPKNOT Percussionist CHRIS FEHN On Late Drummer JOEY JORDISON: 'I Miss That Dude A Ton'

Former SLIPKNOT percussionist Chris Fehn has paid an emotional tribute to the band's late co-founder and drummer Joey Jordison, speaking with Meltdown on Detroit's WRIF radio station on June 23, 2026.

Recalling what it was like to share a stage with Jordison, Fehn didn't hold back: "It's intimidating… he's just a phenomenon," he said. "I miss that dude a ton." He described Jordison's drumming as "unbelievable," praising his rare combination of brute power and technical precision — and marveling at how the drummer could swing from punishing metal to smooth jazz during soundchecks.

Fehn served as one of SLIPKNOT's two percussionists from 1998 until his departure in early 2019, appearing on the band's albums through 2014's ".5: The Gray Chapter." He filed a compensation lawsuit against the group that was settled in October 2020, and was replaced in the touring lineup by Michael "Tortilla Man" Pfaff beginning in May 2019.

As for his own future, Fehn made clear he's content to stay off the road. He cited physical injuries and his responsibilities as a father as the reasons he's stepped back from professional performance, suggesting a return to touring simply isn't in the cards.

Jordison, widely regarded as one of the most influential metal drummers of his generation, co-founded SLIPKNOT and remained a defining force in the band before his exit in 2013. He died in 2021 at the age of 46, and tributes from former bandmates and peers have continued to surface in the years since — a measure of the mark he left on heavy music.
