Riding the emotional weight of their new single "Your Ghost Again," MASTODON have announced a major North American tour for fall 2026. "The Poisonous Weapons Tour" runs September 16 through October 24, covering 24 dates across the United States, with DEAFHEAVEN and ALCEST joining as support acts — a lineup that blends progressive metal, post-black metal, and atmospheric shoegaze in a way that feels deliberately thought-out.
The tour kicks off September 16 in Orlando, Florida, and closes October 24 in Dallas, Texas, hitting major markets across the East Coast, Midwest, and beyond. Presale tickets went live June 4 with the code "MASTOTIX," with general sale beginning June 5.
The announcement arrives alongside the release of "Your Ghost Again," the lead single from MASTODON's upcoming ninth studio album — the first new music from the band since the death of co-founding guitarist Brent Hinds in August 2025. The song, produced by Patrik Berger and Kurt Ballou of CONVERGE, addresses themes of grief and the haunting presence of those we've lost, making this tour feel like a genuine act of collective mourning and forward momentum.
Drummer Brann Dailor described the emotional core of the new material: "It's those moments when you're in those familiar places that you've always been with that person, and then, after they're gone, you see them out of the corner of your eye, and it makes you sad because they're not there."
The choice of DEAFHEAVEN and ALCEST as touring partners is striking. Both bands operate in the territory between black metal and post-rock — DEAFHEAVEN from San Francisco, ALCEST from France — and their inclusion speaks to the experimental and emotionally expansive direction MASTODON appear to be pursuing on the new record.
MASTODON's current lineup features original members Dailor, bassist and vocalist Troy Sanders, and guitarist Bill Kelliher, alongside new guitarist Nick Johnston and keyboardist João Nogueira. The ninth studio album is expected later in 2026 via Loma Vista Recordings.
This will mark MASTODON's first major live run since Hinds' passing, and given everything the band has been through, it promises to be one of the most emotionally charged touring cycles of their career.
