TEMIC

TEMIC go back to 2017, when keyboardist Diego Tejeida (ex-HAKEN, Devin Townsend's live band) and guitarist Eric Gillette (THE NEAL MORSE BAND) toured the world together as members of Mike Portnoy's SHATTERED FORTRESS and agreed they should start a band. Other commitments kept getting in the way until the 2020 lockdown, when Tejeida called Gillette: "Remember how we said we should make music together? Well, how about now?" Norwegian drummer Simen Sandnes (SHINING, ARKENTYPE) and MARATON singer Fredrik Klemp completed the lineup, and the band is listed as Norwegian by its label.

The idea was specific from the start: progressive music "heavily influenced by high-energy electronic music, but arranged and orchestrated for a 5-piece modern prog rock/metal band", with the pulse and the vocal melody in front. The debut, Terror Management Theory, came out on Season of Mist on 17 November 2023, with Jacob Umansky as guest bassist and "Count Your Losses" and "Falling Away" as the first singles. It reached #15 on the worldwide iTunes metal chart and the top of the Dutch charts, and Mike Portnoy placed the band "somewhere between LEPROUS, SLEEP TOKEN, HAKEN, DREAM THEATER and PAIN OF SALVATION". TEMIC took the album on the road in Europe, including a co-headlining run with RENDEZVOUS POINT, and played Cruise to the Edge.

The second album, Ceiba, followed on 2 October 2026, again on Season of Mist, and is the first with a full-time bassist, Miguel Pereira (WITHEM, BIG CITY). It is a concept record about loss, named after the ceiba, the sacred tree of Mayan cosmology that links the earth, the heavens and the underworld. Eleven tracks run just under 66 minutes, the band call it "more progressive than our first album", and the video for lead single "Ceased To Be" was filmed under a real ceiba tree and inside a cenote on Mexico's Yucatán Peninsula. Singles "Broken" and "Ashes" followed, and in October 2026 the band started the Autumnal Offerings European tour with KINGCROW.
