BRUCE DICKINSON: IRON MAIDEN Will Keep Tickets Affordable — 'We Want Real Fans Standing There'

IRON MAIDEN frontman Bruce Dickinson has spoken out strongly against the predatory ticket pricing practices that have swept the live music industry, vowing his band will continue prioritizing real fans over wealthy concertgoers.

"We don't want a bunch of very rich people standing in front of the stage. We want real fans to be standing there," Dickinson said in an interview tied to the world premiere of the IRON MAIDEN documentary "Burning Ambition" in London on May 7.

Dickinson acknowledged the financial pressures facing touring bands but was unequivocal: skyrocketing costs are "not an excuse for doing crazy, crazy ticket prices." He referenced IRON MAIDEN's 2023 Power Trip festival appearance, where dedicated fans were pushed to the back while wealthy attendees — more interested in filming on their phones — occupied the front rows.

The MAIDEN vocalist also addressed the broader economic crisis facing rock and metal acts, pointing to diminishing royalties from streaming services like Spotify as a systemic problem. He contrasted this with the lucrative fees commanded by DJs, arguing that the industry's economics are fundamentally broken for bands that actually play their instruments.

These comments coincide with the world premiere of "Burning Ambition," a documentary tracing IRON MAIDEN's fifty-year history, which debuted in London today. The film promises an in-depth look at one of heavy metal's most enduring and beloved bands.
