American heavy metal veterans RIOT V have parted ways with vocalist Todd Michael Hall after a 13-year partnership. Hall announced his departure personally, citing the need to focus on family and his family business.
"I need to take a break to focus more on my wife, my family, and my family business," Hall wrote in his statement.
During his tenure, Hall recorded three studio albums with RIOT V: Unleash The Fire (2014), Armor Of Light (2018), and Mean Streets (2024), as well as two live albums. He brought a powerful, wide-ranging tenor to the band that honored the legacy of RIOT's founding vocalist Rhett Forrester and their most beloved frontman, Tony Moore.
RIOT V confirmed that Italian vocalist Valentino Francavilla of WHITE SKULL will serve as interim vocalist for the band's upcoming 2026 tour dates. The band also revealed they are currently working on their 18th studio album, with more updates on both the temporary and permanent vocal situation to follow.
"The show must go on," the band stated, invoking the philosophy of late founder and guitarist Mark Reale, who passed away in 2012.
Formed in New York City in 1975, RIOT V (formerly RIOT) are one of American heavy metal's most enduring acts. Their legacy includes pivotal albums such as Rock City (1977), Narita (1979), and the landmark Thundersteel (1988). Their iconic mascot "Johnny Rock" — a surfing polar bear — remains one of the most recognized images in classic heavy metal.
