In October, 2004, ANAL CUNT's Seth Putnam slipped into a coma after an overdose of Ambien sleeping pills. In an exlusive interview with the Boston Phoenix — his first and only interview since coming out of his coma — extreme metal's most notorious fuckup talks about what happened the night of his overdose, why his family fought to keep his condition a secret, and how he's determined to be the same asshole he's always been.
To accompany the story, Putnam gave the Phoenix an MP3 of the ANAL CUNT song "You're In a Coma", which is available along with exclusive photos and interview outtakes at this location'
Background: A year ago this month, ANAL CUNT frontman Seth Putnam went to a friend's place for a birthday party. Cake and ice cream were not on the menu. In the course of an evening, Seth says he consumed $200 worth of crack cocaine, an untraceable amount of heroin, and at least a fifth of whiskey, while consorting with a crowd that included pimps, prostitutes, and at least one convicted armed robber. He woke up feeling physically fine but wanting to commit suicide. He bought enough heroin to kill himself, cooked up a hot shot, and then . . . came to his senses and decided he wanted to live. There was just one problem. He couldn't sleep. So he popped a stash of Ambien — two months' worth — and accidentally fell into a coma. When he was ambulanced to the hospital, doctors said he'd have irreparable brain damage and discussed pulling the plug.

PERSUADER add bonus to "The Hunter" To some of you this band might only be known as the winner of the 2003 Young Metal Gods Award or two of the boys in SAVAGE CIRCUS. But five years ago they recorded their stunning debut "The Hunter" which made those who listened wanna sign the band immediately. Of all possible partners a very small label ended up being the lucky one, released the debut in France with a few copies – and dissolved in bancrupcy. Now you can finally see the light of this rough diamond. To make it even more valuable without polishing away the energy, we added the songs "Escape" and "Cursed" from the even earlier "Visions and dreams" demo as a bonus.
CELESTY - our Finnish youngsters got signed We are proud to announce the addition of CELESTY to our fine artist selection. Those young Finnish guys already released two albums and are big in Japan, so be prepared for epic and melodic progressive metal. But don't underrate the Nothern heritage of CELESTY - there is a lot of darkness from long winter nights in the songs also.

although time keeps on ticking quickly, things go very well in the Guardian camp. To be more precise: we are still on schedule and even though everyone is totally busy and concentrated the atmosphere is very lifely and still relaxed to a certain extend:-) The material for the single will be accomplished at the end of November. To make that happen this particular stuff will get most of our attention for the next 4 weeks. Everyone is already involved in the recording process and we are really excited about the album ´s progression. It is too early to say when we will be finished exactly, but I would say a worldwide release in the first half of 2006 is very realistic. Things look (sound - as well) very promising. At the moment we are also getting deeper into details such as album title, cover, etc... So, we are about to scratch the most important phase of the recording session and we do not intend to leave you out ... Please, let us work on it a little longer, so we can fix things technically. You will be provided with footage, that is for sure.

On the 23rd September 2005, as a result of a fire at the Russian death metal band GRENOUER make shift rehearsal studio, the band lost all their instruments and equipment. As the band was simply subletting this space in the Vereteno factory in St. Petersburg they cannot expect any financial compensation from the factory owners, let alone an apology. The fire started as a consequence of an unqualified welder (twat!!!) who was carrying some work in the nearby area. At the moment the factory management is doing everything possible to cover these facts up and create a new version of events in order to avoid hefty penalties.
You can see all the pictures taken at the scene after the fire on the official GRENOUER forum at:
All of the bands equipment either perished in the fire or became totally unusable due water damage from the firemen's attempts to put the fire out. This unfortunate event took place right at the peak of GRENOUER's preparation for the recording of their fifth full length album when the dates for the recording sessions had already been booked at the ASTIA studio in Finland.
IND (Vocals): "This situation is quite dramatic because the fire has been a set back to many of our plans, however we're not going to give up! On the contrary, we must get through this and at the very least partially realise our plans. Of course we're gonna start by getting new instruments, amps and all other necessary devices and if someone feels like giving us a helping hand they can always get in touch with us by email (grenouer@prm.ru' ), however, our enemies will now have reason to celebrate. As a result of this incident, I believe that the subject of fire and destruction will now find a place in our writing. Anyway, it's too early to write GRENOUER off yet!!!"
SAMAEL's Vorph and Xy are currently reworking their "Era One" project (originally completed and delivered to Century Media Records in September 2002) for a January 2006 release through Century Media.
